A little about Kristen…
Kristen M. Ploetz is a DCA Certified Pre-Mediation Divorce Coach and CDC Certified Divorce Coach for women in midlife who are ending long-term marriages or coming out as LGBTQ+ while married to men, both of which are part of her own personal story. In her divorce coaching practice, Kristen uses her prior professional experience as a family law attorney and mediator together with her specialized divorce coaching certification to help inform her services.
Kristen understands what it means to divorce later in life, including simultaneous realities like changing professional and/or caretaker roles, dealing with aging parents, confronting an empty nest, shifting retirement goals, or moving through menopause. Her work includes supporting women who will be using mediation or other ADR processes to reach resolution in their divorce, and she also supports clients who may be on the path to litigation.
Through one-on-one virtual sessions, Kristen helps her clients get organized, understand the divorce timeline, locate relevant divorce professionals, gather information, process emotions ahead of critical decision making, strengthen effective communication skills, and tap into the confidence, calm, and structured thinking they will need to move through their divorce, including mediation. Kristen works with self-represented (pro se) individuals as well as those who have retained legal counsel. Working with Kristen saves clients time and money before they work with their attorney and/or mediator, and helps minimize conflict throughout the process. Kristen is a DCA Certified Pre-Mediation Divorce Coach, CDC Certified Divorce Coach, a trained family law mediator, and a licensed Massachusetts attorney who most recently practiced in family law. She also has an MFA in creative writing.
