What to say to your friend who has a complicated relationship with their ill parent or guardian

These scripts should serve as a guide for tough, trying, and tremendous life moments.

We’re here to support you in supporting your people. We’re proud of you. And we’ve got you.

Here’s what to say when you don’t know what to say.

There is nothing easy about taking care of your parents or worrying about their wellbeing during these times. I'm always here to talk through options with you or simply to listen. I know you love them so much and watching them in this state is hard. There's no upside, it's just hard. I just want you to remember that you're supported, and loved, and so capable, and strong. I’m always just a text away.

Text these scripts, email them, leave them as a voicemail, or as the basis of a phone call or conversation in person. These scripts can be used over and over and across all platforms. We hope they help. We want to support you so that you can support your people.
